September 2024: SUPAIR X COUSIN – X LITE 80, the world’s lightest rescue parachute

The SUPAIR brand is recognized worldwide for the design of paragliding harnesses dedicated to all forms of suspended flight.

In September 2024, at the Coupe Icare, SUPAIR launched its new rescue parachute, the X LITE 80, the lightest model on the market. The X LITE parachute brings with it a host of innovations, making it possible to achieve this ultra-light weight without compromising on safety and comfort, all based on a technology developed by the COUSIN Research and Industrialization department, the DYNALINK. DYNALINK is a textile braid with a climbing-inspired design that improves resistance and effectively absorbs forces when the parachute opens. Thanks to the elasticity of the materials used, the riser absorbs part of the energy by deforming, reducing stress on the rest of the structure. Once the energy has been absorbed, the riser returns to its original shape, retaining its efficiency.

The forces exerted on the structure are reduced thanks to the absorption of the DYNALINK, making it possible to lighten the parachute structure while maintaining a high level of safety. At 741g, the X LITE is currently the lightest parachute on the market for a GVW of 80kg.
